I can't believe it's come to this, but I'm quoting Shrek. Yes, like the green ogre, I have layers. I'm always learning new things, indulging my curiosity and developing my mind. One hour of my day could be spent on a laptop carrying out creative writing or learning to build databases, the next hour could be spent among the hills, cycling, running or hiking. Something I wish people would notice more about me is a quiet but steely strength. I’m really determined to progress in life. What friends often comment on is my dark sense of humor. It’s as dry and warped as wood left in the desert. Naturally, I try to curb it around people who don’t appreciate that sort of thing and not everyone needs to Share it, or should, but it would give us something else to get to know each other with if you do. A really important aspect of my life is leaving an imprint with the people I share it with. In terms of musical things, I used to play a double bass at school, but I’m not sure I could do it anymore. I was also in a choir a few years ago and the best experience I had with them was singing in the entrance to a cave. The resonance was wonderful.

Music Enjoyed:

I like soundtracks best, particularly Hans Zimmer and Vangelis. My favorite is Vangelis’ score to the Alexandre film in 2003.

Sports and exercise:

I really like running. Every year, I visit Colorado and like the challenge of running at a higher altitude in a dry climate, last summer, I even got to run during a thunderstorm, something I wouldn’t do in England where it’s more humid. This was a great experience. I also like hiking and cycling, and used to do salsa (the dance, not the dip).

Newspapers and magazines:

I really got into National Geographic when I was working in a boarding school, and couldn’t get out much but found a stash of these magazines in the library. I got so interested, I cut out loads of pictures of ancient ruins (from copies I bought) and decorated my bedroom walls with them. That’s how into the magazine I was.

Favourite Films:

My two favourite films would probably be both Gladiator and Miss Congeniality. It would have been a film called Miss 420 which is a Bollywood film because I was supposed to be an extra in it. However, after renting said film and discovering Your's Truly was on the cutting room floor, this movie lost it's appeal...

In another life:

If I had to be reincarnated, I would be me. No matter what these other lives would have to offer, I couldn’t enjoy them properly without being myself. Reincarnation is part of the novel I have written, so it’s an interesting concept.

Personality:

Friends describe me as cheerful, considerate, empathetic (that’s EMpathetic, not pathetic!) and eccentric. People comment that I’ve a lovely calming presence. As a measure of my magnetic personality, whilst carrying out an internship in a zoo, it became apparent that one of the tigers kept following me.
